Paigow Poker - Rules
Pai-Gow Poker is a variation on the ancient Chinese
domino game called Pai-Gow. However, instead of dominoes
this version of the game uses a standard pack of 52
playing cars plus one joker or wild card.
Pai-gow poker is what is commonly referred to as a
banking poker game, as the players involved can take
the bank. The game has long been played in real world
casinos, but has only recently made its way into the
world of online gambling.
Pai-Gow poker can be played by up to seven people,
but is commonly played one-on-one versus the dealer.
The game is played with a deck of 52 cards, including
one joker. This joker is a wild card but it can only
be used as an Ace or to complete a Straight, Straight
Flush or Royal Flush.
The player is dealt 7 cards that he makes into a five-card
hand (high hand) and a two-card hand (low hand). The
object of the game is to make two hands that beat the
banker's hands.
The 5-card hand must rank higher than the 2-card hand.
The two-card is obviously limited to being a a pair
or two individual cards, making a ranking range of a
pair of aces at best and a 2 plus a 3 at worst.
The table is laid out with a seat for the dealer and
up to six player seats. Each player spot has spaces
for a bet, low hand, high hand and sometimes the house
commission.
